Characterization of micro-capsules deformation in branching channels

In this paper, the dynamic of inertial capsules into microfluidic bifurcations is studied. The fluid evolution based on solution BGK – lattice Boltzmann scheme including a forcing term accounting for immersed geometries. dynamic-Immersed Boundary strategy adopted imposing no-slip boundary conditions moving deformable or rigid structures, while, fixed geometries Bouzidi–Firdaouss–Lallemand second-order bounce back technique implemented. proposed computational framework employed to detail dynamics and deformation traveling branching duct. This journey characterized in terms i) capsule/bifurcation interaction depending sharpness channels junction; ii) daughter branches aperture angle; iii) occlusion ratio, ratio between capsule size main channel diameter; iv) flowing stiffness; v) number particles.
